Originating in the Republic of Geneva, the story of Schweppes began in the year 1783. This is when Johann Jacob Schweppe successfully discovered a way to manufacture bottled carbonated mineral water. Within a decade, Schweppe moved the business from Geneva to London, introducing his sparkling water to a broader audience and setting the stage for the brand's global expansion.

Schweppes' ascent in the beverage industry was notably bolstered in 1836 when it received a Warrant of Appointment from King William IV of England. This prestigious endorsement was a mark of distinction and played a crucial role in enhancing the brand's popularity as it expanded.

Following this royal endorsement, Schweppes maintained its momentum, playing an integral role in the 1851 Great Exhibition, sponsored under the patronage of Prince Albert.
