Ingredient sourcing and quality control
The quality of the ingredients greatly affects the taste of the final beverage. This is why our dedication to quality begins at the source. 1) Water treatment
Our water is meticulously treated through a seven-step purification process, which ensures that the water used in all our beverages meets the standards of safety and purity.
2) Sugar treatment
The sugar in our beverages, sourced from trusted suppliers, undergoes a stringent purification process. This includes an independent laboratory analysis and in-house treatments to remove any impurities or microbes.
3) Juice pulp treatment
For beverages with fruit content, the pulp is carefully integrated with the treated sugar syrup and undergoes pasteurisation to maintain natural flavors and nutrients.

Understanding the beverage production process at HCCB
Ingredient sourcing and treatment are just one part of the puzzle of beverage manufacturing processes. Here's a detailed step-by-step explanation of how these processes are meticulously managed:
1) Water Purification
Water is fundamental to any beverage, and its purity is non-negotiable. At HCCB, our 7-step water purification process incorporates advanced filtration techniques such as reverse osmosis and UV sterilisation to eliminate impurities and ensure safety. This rigorous approach not only allows us to meet strict quality standards but also enables us to achieve a standardised taste across our products.
2) Beverage Mixing
Each beverage's signature flavor originates from its unique recipe. A perfected syrup is made by precisely mixing purified water, treated sugar, and fruit pulp concentrate according to Master Mixing Instructions. This mixing occurs in stainless steel tanks, with sparkling beverages chilled to 4°C for carbonation and non-sparkling beverages heated to 96 to 98°C for pasteurisation.
3) Filling
The beverages are then prepared for filling by blending the final syrup with water. Containers such as glass bottles, tetra packs, cans, and PET bottles are sanitised via a 5-step CIP process. For filling, cooler temperatures are used for sparkling drinks to maintain their fizz, while warmer temperatures are used for non-sparkling drinks to facilitate pasteurisation, followed by sealing to preserve quality.
4) Capping
In beverage manufacturing, securing the beverage is as essential as creating it. Containers are immediately capped to seal in the freshness and carbonation of sparkling drinks and ensure the integrity of non-sparkling beverages. Capping is performed accurately to ensure that each bottle, can, or tetra pack is airtight and secure. Different types of caps used are specific to the type of container, but all are designed to withstand the pressure, prevent leakage, and preserve the beverage's quality until they’re opened.
5) Labelling
Once filled and sealed, each container is labelled to convey the beverage's identity and information. We at HCCB employ swift and precise automated systems to ensure customers receive essential product information, including ingredients and best before dates, that maintain full brand transparency.
6) Packaging
Finally, the beverages are packaged securely to ensure they reach consumers without damage. The packaging process is about protection, efficiency, and presentation. Containers are organised for dispatch, using materials and designs that ensure the bottles can be transported efficiently and arrive at their destination in perfect condition, ready for consumers to enjoy.
Making beverages the right way
At HCCB, our ethos is to ensure excellence and innovation in beverage production without losing sight of our environmental responsibilities. One such initiative is the Nitro Hot Fill process. This proprietary technology introduces liquid nitrogen into PET bottles during packaging. The result is a significant reduction in both the amount of plastic required for each bottle and energy consumption throughout the manufacturing process.

1) Returnable Glass Bottles (RGBs)
These glass bottles can be returned, cleaned, and reused multiple times. They undergo a meticulous inspection, cleaning, and reinspection cycle to ensure each bottle in circulation is in perfect condition for reuse. This cyclical process contributes to our sustainability goals by extending the life of the packaging material and minimising our environmental impact.
2) PET Bottles
Made from Polyethylene Terephthalate, PET bottles are notable for their strength, thermos-stability, and clarity. They are lightweight and highly recyclable, making them an efficient choice in terms of both beverage production and sustainability.
